Fundraiser for injured eventing rider

A fundraiser is being held for young eventer Allison Angrove, who was badly injured in a fall in 2009.

Angrove, who was 16 at the tine of the accident in April 2009, when she was warming up for the showjumping phase of the Ram Tap horse trials in Fresno, California. She fell from her horse, Skyler, and was in a coma for 14 months.

Angrove returned home after two and a half years in medical facilities, and is still undergoing speech,language therapy and physical therapy. Her home has had to be remodelled to accommodate her wheelchair accessible needs.

The fundraiser is on February 26, from 3/30 to 6.30pm, at Veterans Memorial Martinez, at 930 Ward Street, in Martinez, California. Tickets are $25. The event will include food, raffles, a silent auction, and dancing with live music by the new local band PUSH, featuring ABC7News Anchor, Dan Ashley, as lead singer.

Angrove was wearing a helmet at the time of her accident, but the traumatic brain injury she sustained was severe.
