New provisional import health standard for horses

June 17, 2011

A new provisional import health standard for horses has been released by MAF Biosecurity in New Zealand.

The standard outlines requirements that must be met for horses being imported into the country. It is dated June 15.

Any person consulted under section 22(6) of the Biosecurity Act, and who made a submission, has 10 working days from June 15 to notify the Director-General of the ministry if they intend to request an independent review in accordance with Gazette Notice 4582 issued under section 22A of the act.

If no person notifies the director-general of an intention to request an independent review by close of business on June 29, this provisional import health standard will be issued as final on June 30.
