The project was given the go-ahead at last week's FEI Bureau meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The FEI said the DVD, which would specifically focus on cross-country training and riding, was intended for education and discussion purposes by officials, riders, trainers, and National Federations.

A working group composed of riders, trainers and officials representing the FEI and British Eventing will work on the DVD project.

In recent months the sport has been in the spotlight with several horse deaths and serious rider injuries. In February the FEI said a decrease in the percentage of cross-country falls in the past year showed its Eventing Risk Management Action Plan was working, but that it was still concerned about the number of horse falls and lower level rider falls.

At the Bureau meeting, FEI Eventing Committee chairman Giuseppe Della Chiesa reported that the Risk Management Programme was producing encouraging results. He said that "agreed measureable goals on falls were on target and the overall trend was pointing in the right direction."
