Trouble with a pony has put leading New Zealand jockey Lisa Cropp in hospital with a hairline skull fracture.

Cropp was admitted on Tuesday to Waikato Hospital after an accident at Cambridge with a pony she was understood to have been schooling for her daughter.

Cropp, who was back in New Zealand during a successful racing campaign in Victoria, is expected to be out of racing for several weeks.
