Kiwis knocked out of jumping final

October 7, 2010

New Zealand's World Equestrian Games are over after Katie McVean and Samantha McIntosh missed out on making the top 30 for Friday's semi-final.

The top riders jumped off in Kentucky this evening, with Germany taking out the old medal and Brazilian rider Rodrigo Pessoa on HH Rebozo leading individual rankings.

McVean, aboard Dunstan Delphi was the best for the Kiwis after finishing 38th on 17.25 out of the 121 who started in the showjumping three days ago, with McIntosh on Loxley 38 in 59th position on 22.42.

The two Kiwis jumped this afternoon, with the top 10 teams and 15 individuals competing before 20,000-plus in the main arena this evening.

The New Zealand results mean they have not qualified either an individual or a team for the 2012 London Olympics, but will have a chance to do so next year.
