PR firm to have hand in pushing Salazar plan

June 21, 2010

Wild horse advocates have voiced concerns over the appointment of a public relations firm to help push a controversial plan for future management of the animals.

The Cloud Foundation believes a San Francisco-based PR firm will help push Interior Secretary Ken Salazar's plan for the horses through Congress in autumn.

Salazar's plan involves setting up new reserves on Easter and Midwestern land and relocating thousands of wild horses from their western rangelands.

The plan will involve aggressive use of long-term contraceptive measures.

"This is all about manipulating public opinion. And ramming one thing - Salazar's Plan - through," said author R.T. Fitch, who has been campaigning strongly on behalf of the horses.

Critics of Salazar's proposal have nicknamed the Salazoo plan.
