Two wins for Mark Todd at Somerley horse trials

Kiwi riders were thereabouts in most of their classes at the weekend's big event, the Burnham Market International Horse Trials, but none broke through for a win.

However, it was a different story at Somerley Park One Day Event earlier this week, on Tuesday and Wednesday, when Mark Todd won two classes, a novice and an open novice, and placed second on Chuckleberry in an Open Intermediate to Andrew Nicholson and Avebury.

Britain was again blighted by poor weather over the weekend, with several horse trials cancelled. Cancellations over Easter Weekend included Goring Heath, Lapworth and Howick.

Many riders have not been able to compete at events they have entered, and British Eventing says its fixtures team is working with event organisers in "identifying additional opportunities ... to compete".

In the event of an event cancellation or abandonment, the process for reclaiming insured entry fees and refunding riders takes about three weeks, British Eventing said.
