Ahlmann latest to cop Olympic doping ban

Top German showjumper Christian Ahlmann is the latest rider to be disqualified from the Olympic Games and suspended by the FEI over doping charges.
He has been suspended for four months, to end on December 18, and fined $NZ2940 ($US1400; 2000 Swiss francs) and ordered to pay of $NZ2206 (CHF1500) towards legal costs.
The FEI Tribunal gave its final decision over the prohibited substance case involving the horse Cöster ridden by Ahlmann at the Olympics.

In reaching its conclusion the Tribunal concluded the substance at issue - Capsaicin - was a "Medication Class A" rather than a "Doping" substance based on its interpretation of the list of prohibited substances.
Ahlmann has 30 days to appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
His suspension follows that of fellow showjumpers Denis Lynch, Bernardo Alves, and Rodrigo Pessoa.
