The Equestrian Federation of Australia is seeking an Eventing National Safety Officer.

The sport of eventing is under fire, with horse and rider deaths and injuries damaging the sport's reputation.

The new position in Australia is being established following January's FEI Eventing Safety Forum when the world's governing body directed that each national federation must appoint a national safety officer.

Applications for the Eventing National Safety Officer position with the EFA close on July 28.

Coincidentally, Australian researchers have just released a report on developing a system for national equestrian federations to analyse eventing injuries. The report provides some of the best information yet on the nature of accidents within the sport.
