NZ names World Champs endurance team

Three horse and rider combinations have been named to New Zealand's team to compete in the 2008 World Endurance Championships in Malaysia in September.

The team comprises:

• National 160km title winners Jenny Champion and Freckles, from Eketahuna. She also won the national 160km championships in 2006 when held at Hawarden.

• Cheviot's Philip Graham and Wolfgang Amadeus, who are one of the country's most experienced combinations. Graham, 53, competed at the WEG in Aachen. Wolfgang Amadeus is a 12-year-old anglo arab.

• Andrea Smith and Sierra Nevada, from Mangaweka in the North Island, who were fifth at the Nationals this year.
