Sydney Royal Show horse events cancelled

December 14, 2007

The Royal Agricultural Society (RAS) of NSW has cancelled the Sydney Royal Horse Show in March.

The risk of spreading the equine influenza virus and the huge logistical operation of managing cross zone movements led the RAS to the decision.

However, the Sydney Royal 2008 will not be without horses completely, with events such as polo, polocrosse, tent pegging, showjumping and camp drafting to be staged in the main arena. There will also be plenty of horse displays around the grounds including the NSW Mounted Police.

Horses for these events will be sourced from within the purple zone.
