Singapore horses cleared of equine influenza

September 25, 2007

Five horses with a respiratory illness in Singapore do not have equine influenza, authorities have confirmed.

The nation's Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority has lifted restrictions on horses housed at the Singapore Polo Club after test results proved negative.

The AVA ordered that the animals be isolated after the illness was reported on September 22.

Singapore is free of equine influenza, but its horse community is subject to a vaccination programme for the disease.
