The eventing world is in mourning again after the seventh rider fatality within 10 months. Julie Silly, 17, was killed at a novice horse trials event in France on May 5.

Julie, from Longvilliers near Paris, died instantly when her horse somersaulted on top of her, in a national event in Jardy last weekend.

The fence has been described as straightforward and the conditions perfect.

Julie was an experienced rider at junior level and had qualified for the French National Championships next month.
