Another victory for anti horse-slaughter lobbyists

The Illinois horse slaughter plant, already closed following a Federal court ruling, had taken another blow.
State representatives voted 74-41 this week to ban the slaughter of horses for human consumption. The legislation must now move to the Senate, and, if passed, will outlaw the practice permanently in Illinois.
The plant, operated by Cavel International Inc, had closed after a Federal Court ruling went against the plant over its funding of Us Department of Agriculture mandatory inspections.
