Freezing in Kazahkstan for horses

December 13, 2006

Two British women braved the freezing temperatures of a city square in Kazakhstan wearing nothing but lettuce bikinis in a publicity stunt aimed at turning the nation away from eating horse meat.

The two women, Yvonne Taylor and Lucy Groom, were urging Kazahks to turn vegetarian, making their statement in the nation's commercial capital of Almaty.

The women are from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
