Willie Nelson adopts 11 horses

American country singer Willie Nelson has adopted 11 horses bound for slaughter at plants in Texas that export the meat for human consumption.
The horses have taken up residence at Nelson's Luck Ranch, near Austin, Texas.
Nelson has been prominent in the campaign to ban the slaughter of horses at the plants, with legislation part-way through the US political system.
