Barbaro 'as well as can be expected'

Barbaro has had a good weekend thus far, according to reports, and earlier Chief of Surgery Dean Richardson said the Kentucky Derby winner remains in stable condition.

"He had another restful night and his vital signs are good," Dr. Richardson on Friday.

"We continue to monitor him closely and he is responding as well as can be expected to treatment."

Barbaro is in the Intensive Care Unit of Penn's George D. Widener Hospital where he is being treated for fractures in his right hind leg, which he received at the Preakness on May 20, as well as laminitis in his left hind foot.
