Horsepower has again proven unbeatable in the latest Man V Horse marathon race in Wales, with Deliva Crainza prevailing with Lindsey Walters in the saddle.
Last weekend’s 23-mile race was won by the combination in 2:17.35, with the fastest human runner, Ross MacDonald, finishing in 2:37.51. The first female runner home was Emily Lagomarsino in 3:06.23.
The race is described as having legendary status “amongst nutty endurance runners”.
This year 60 riders on horseback took part in the event, sponsored by organic food brand Whole Earth.
The race in Powys, mid Wales, takes competitors over challenging mountainous terrain. The race is in its 37th year, and it took 25 years before a two-legged contestant prevailed, with Huw Lobb winning in 2:05:19 in 2004.
