A young zebra started off 2016 with a sightseeing jaunt around Hood County, in north Texas.
The zebra was seen roaming on New Year’s Day just south of Granbury, and prompted a short news release from the Hood County Sheriff’s Office, asking: “Anyone missing a zebra?”
Sheriff Roger Deeds said the zebra had jumped fences off Highway 144 near Comanche Peak during its wanderings. He managed to catch it, but the animal broke free. Deeds was able to recapture it.
The zebra’s owner, who was said to live nearby, was located and the animal was returned within hours.
The zebra was unhurt.
