Colombia has been promoted to the team jumping gold medal position for the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games after Venezuelan rider Pablo Barrios’s results were stripped following a positive medication test.
The ruling stems from a substance in Barrios’s blood pressure medication, which the rider was reportedly unaware he had to declare.
Barrios was also stripped of his individual gold medal, and the wiping of his result means Venezuela gets the silver medal, with Guatemala in bronze.
The decision was announced by the Hector Cardona, president of the Central American and Caribbean Sports Organisation.
Roberto Teran is now the gold medalist, with Venezuela’s Emanuel Andrade awarded silver, and Hector Florentino of the Dominican Republic bronze.
