Bertram Allen headlines Dublin’s ‘Jumping in the City’ finale

World No.5 ranked showjumper Bertram Allen is among the starters at the final of Ireland’s “Jumping In The City” Series, in Dublin’s Shelbourne Park on Friday night.

The 19-year-old from Wexford will be joined in the Grand Prix class by Olympic medallist Cian O’Connor, former World Champion Dermott Lennon and Tipperary’s Greg Broderick, who has been Ireland’s top Nations’ Cup performer in 2015. Former Army rider Brian Cournane, who jumped a double clear for Ireland in the Nations’ Cup of Norway at Drammen earlier this year, will also travel from his new base in the UK to compete.

Allen will ride the 11-year-old Westphalian gelding Anicmo, owned by Ashford Farm, in the grand prix.

The final of the Underwriting Exchange “Jumping In The City” Series open with the West Wood Ifor Williams Amateur class where the winners of the Limerick  and Cork legs, Aileen McDermott and Victoria McKee, will be among the favourites.

The Devenish Puissance will see Tipperary’s Liam O’Meara and Wexford’s Jason Higgins renew their rivalry after they finished as joint winners of the Puissance in the Cork leg, clearing the big red wall at a height of 2m 15cm.
