US equine rescue groups will receive up to $150,000 in free feed thanks to a program by US feed manufacturer Purina.
For the past four years, through its “A Home for Every Horse” program, Purina Animal Nutrition has pledged a donation of at least $125,000. But this year, it is asking horse lovers to help donate another $25,000 in feed.
Purina will donate an additional $1 in free feed when fans share through HelpFeedRescueHorses.com, or “Like” or “Share” campaign-related posts on Purina’s Facebook page.
And sharing a story on bringing a malnourished horse back to good health on Purina’s Facebook page will bring in another $25 in free feed to the campaign.
“A Home for Every Horse” is a joint effort with The American Horse Council’s Unwanted Horse Coalition, which seeks to place, foster and sponsor America’s homeless horses.
“Providing care for horses in need is a critical issue across the equine industry and is at the very core of our commitment to animal excellence,” said Brant Gilbert, director of marketing, Purina Animal Nutrition.
“Through our ongoing partnership with A Home for Every Horse, we’ve been able to make a big difference in the lives of hundreds of rescue horses, providing premium nutrition to aid in their recoveries. This year, we’re expecting to reach even more ambitious goals and help more horses looking for their forever homes.”
More than 400 rescue shelters across the country received support during the program’s inaugural year. And to date, Purina has donated more than 600 tons of feed to rescue shelters.
