Rio Olympic showjumping qualification is up for grabs at the Royal Melbourne Show in Australia later this year, with the FEI World Cup Qualifier also offering riders a chance to be considered for the Australian team.
The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) has opened entries for the Royal Melbourne Show 2015 Horses in Action program, with competition events scheduled from Saturday, September 19 to Tuesday, September 29, at Melbourne Showgrounds.
The show will feature Australia’s best horses and riders across more than 250 classes and will offer more than $80,000 in prize money and trophies.
More than 2500 entries are expected, with with horses and riders coming from all over Australia to compete.
The coveted Garryowen Equestrienne Turnout is in its 81st year and is one of Australia’s most prestigious showing events for female riders, offering more than $7500 in prize money and prizes.
“RASV is committed to enhancing the event experience each year for competitors who participate in the Royal Melbourne Show Horses in Action program,” said RASV CEO Mark O’Sullivan.
“The inclusion of the qualifying round for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games team, adding to the existing prestigious events within the Horses in Action program, is testament to the high standard of participants the competition receives every year.”
