Animal welfare officials in Ontario are hoping they will be able to rehome a nervous horse named Lexi with George, her faithful male alpaca companion.

The Ontario SPCA is seeking a home for a nine-year-old Lexi, who is a Belgian-Clydesdale cross. It says she has never been ridden and is nervous.

“She will need a home that is willing to work with her and build up her trust,” it said on its Facebook page.

Lexi is likely to do better if she can be rehomed with her friend, George.

“She has had very minimal handling prior to coming into our care but has been making great progress at our foster farm with learning to trust people.”

But the charity believes Lexi will do better if George can be rehomed with her.

The pair had developed a very strong bond and have always lived together, the group said.

“If possible we would like to keep them together.

“He is always by her side and when in their stall he is constantly chatting with her.”

George is slightly nervous but is becoming more and more comfortable every day, the SPCA says.
