Equine Canada’s equestrian coaches have the chance to undertake a free eLearning module in understanding concussion.
Making Head Way in Sport is an initiative developed by the Coaching Association of Canada, under the country’s Public Health Agency.
Concussion and brain-related injuries have been making headlines because of the serious implications undiagnosed concussions and improper return to play protocols can have on the long term well-being of an athlete. Making Head Way in Sport is an online learning tool designed to help coaches gain the knowledge and skills required to ensure the safety of their athletes.
This NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) module covers concussion prevention, recognize the signs and symptoms of a concussion, what to do when you suspect an athlete has a concussion, and how to ensure athletes return to play safely.
Making Head Way in Sport is available free for a limited time (coaches will require an NCCP# to access the eLearning module) and, once completed, the eLearning module will be included on the coach’s NCCP transcript as professional development.
