The family of British horse-lover Pennie Davis have spoken of their agonising week after the mother-of-five was stabbed to death.

Davis, 47, died in a Hampshire pasture which she had visited last Tuesday as part of her daily routine to tend to her horses.

On Saturday, police announced three arrests in connection with the case. One person was arrested on suspicion of murder, one on suspicion of perverting the course of justice, and the other on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The murder probe, named Operation Biscotti, involved 70 officers at its height and inquiries are continuing.

Davis, a supermarket worker, lived in the village of Blackfield, about four miles from where her horses were kept. The scene of her death was just north of the village of Beaulieu.

Her family – husband Pete and her children Sophie, Alex, Georga, Daniel and Josef – issued a statement today, a week after the killing, saying: “It has been a long, agonising week since our precious mum and wife was selfishly taken from us.

“We had no idea how many lives she had touched, as we have been overwhelmed by love and support. Despite this, the void in our hearts only continues to grow.

“The police have made progress, but there is still much more to be done.

“We only hope that no other family should ever have to go through the ordeal that we are currently facing.

“No other person deserves to ever have to go the way our poor mum and wife did. We will never begin to understand how scared and how alone she must have felt.

“This is why we are pleading for anybody with any information to come forward. Even if you think it won’t make a difference, it might just be the call we were waiting for.”

Police have said a “bladed item” was used in the killing. A post mortem examination revealed that Davis died from multiple stab wounds.
