Engle withdraws from US WEG jumping squad

A collarbone injury has forced Margie Engle’s withdrawal as travelling reserve for the US showjumping team to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in France, with Charlie Jayne stepping in.

Engle withdrewn herself and Royce following the injury, allowing Jayne and his 2003 Zangersheide stallion Chill RZ to take up the travelling reserve position.

The selected US team for the games is, in alphabetical order:

  • Lucy Davis (Los Angeles, Calif.) will ride Old Oak Farm’s Barron (2004 Belgian Warmblood gelding)
  • Kent Farrington (Wellington, Fla.) will ride Amalaya Investments’ Voyeur (2002 Dutch Warmblood gelding)
  • Beezie Madden (Cazenovia, N.Y.) will ride Abigail Wexner’s Cortes ‘C’ (2002 Belgian Warmblood gelding) or Simon (1999 Dutch Warmblood gelding)
  • McLain Ward (Brewster, N.Y.) will ride Sagamore Farms’ Rothchild (2001 Warmblood gelding)

The remaining alternates, in alphabetical order, are:

  • Katie Dinan (Wellington, Fla.) and Grant Road Partners LLC’s Nougat du Vallet (2001 Selle Francais gelding)
  • Lauren Hough (Wellington, Fla.) and The Ohlala Group’s Ohlala (2004 Swedish Warmblood mare)
  • Reed Kessler (Lexington, Ky.) and Kessler Show Stables’ Cylana (2002 Belgian Warmblood mare)
  • Jessica Springsteen (Colts Neck, N.J.) and Stone Hill Farm’s Vindicat W (2002 KWPN gelding)
