An online sale of a sport horse embryo taking place on Sunday is thought to be the first auction of its kind.

The sale on August 24, is being run by Belgian based website ET-Auctions.

The first embryo for sale is a Nabab de Rêve out of Fuga de Muze (Calato x Darco). Fuga de Muze is the full sister of Sea Coast Ferly, the promising mare of Gudrun Patteet.

Fuga de Muze and Sea Coast Ferly are both out of the famous dam line of Narcotique II de Muze, a Darco mare out of Qerly Chin. Fuga de Muze is the dam of approved stallion Pollux de Muze Z (Plot Blue). The start price is €5500.

Auctions for embryos from the dam lines of London (September 7, starting at €6500), Hickstead (September 21, starting at €13,000), and from a full sister to Bella Donna (September 28, starting at €11,000) are also scheduled.

Breeder Joris De Brabander, of Stal de Muze, is a supporter of the initiative, saying that offering embryos creates new possibilities for acquiring top pedigrees. “The purchase of an embryo is the best way to exclusive pedigree. The best foals are rarely on the market, the genetics of an embryo are indisputable. With both a proven dam- and sire line, and provides you all the possibilities for a future top horse.”

Those wishing to bid must register on the site, and include a scan or a picture of their passport.
