Thanks to a huge push on social media there will be no excuse for not knowing what’s happening at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games – whether you’re there or not.
The London 2012 Olympic Games was billed as the first “Socialympics”, the recent FIFA World Cup in Brazil was a social media success, and now the horse world is getting in on the act for WEG in Normandy France, from August 23 to September 7.
As well as launching four new features for the Games, the FEI will be hugely active during the event, connecting with close to 1000 riders, drivers, and vaulters from 74 nations and 500,000 on-site spectators, as well as millions of equestrian fans around the world.
The latest news, images and videos can be accessed in real time from smartphones and tablets, with all the best moments be available online on the FEI’s official accounts on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
This new version enables users to keep track of all the scores at FEI events, check the current ranking lists, get to know their favourite athletes and horses, and access the entire FEI calendar and event schedules.
Athletes have an exclusive and restricted area to check the status of upcoming entries, and can invite grooms, trainers, owners and relatives to follow so they have access to all the information they need to plan events.
Horsify Me App
The brand new FEI Horsify Me App, launched especially for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, is a fun take on the idea that our horses are part of us. Take a photo of yourself, choose a horse face and “horsify” yourself! There are 10 different horse faces to choose from so you can switch from selfies to horsies again and again.
The Horsify Me App is available for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and can be downloaded from the Apple Store.
The Horse Quiz by FEI
Test your Equestrian knowledge by answering just three questions on the Horse Quiz by FEI for a chance to win prizes, including VIP tickets to the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Jumping Final in Barcelona, Spain, in October, and to Las Vegas (USA) for next year’s Longines FEI World Cup Jumping and Reem Acra FEI World Cup Dressage.
The Horse Quiz by FEI is available online from August 23, the day of the Games Opening Ceremony.
The FEI athlete biographies have been totally revamped and now offer riders the chance to become writers on the new biographies platform, allowing athletes to add their own stories. Athletes and National Federations can constantly update their athlete biographies, adding new facts and achievements, and links to their social media channels, all alongside the most comprehensive results database available.
