Hungarian gov’t to invest $US1.5m into horse sport


The Hungarian government is ramping up its support of equestrian sports in the country, with an investment of $US1.5 million.

The investment of 355 million Hungarian Forints (HUF) ($NZ1.8m) was announced last week by Hungary’s Minister for Rural Development Gyula Budai.

Budai said HUF 170 million will be allotted for the first half half of the year, with HUF 30 million going to the summer CSIO***-W Grand Prix in Budapest, while HUF 140 million has been earmarked for the renovation of Kinizsi Park in Fábiánsebestyén.

The government is also planning to inject HUF 60 million into the autumn “National Gallop” on Heroes Square, and similar amounts have also been set aside for the Grand Prix in Izsak and the winter International Horse-racing World Cup in Budapest.
