Lead vet sought for 2016 Rio Olympics


FEI-vetOrganisers of the equestrian events at the 2016 Olympics are seeking a Veterinary Services Leader to oversee operations for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Veterinary Services Leader (VSL) will be responsible for the organisation, staff, facilities and infrastructure relating to horse sports, including the Modern Pentathlon, and will also play a part in the design of the on-site veterinary clinic to be developed at the equestrian venue in Deodoro.

The VSL will also be the liaison between FEI treating veterinarians and the FEI’s Veterinary Commission.

They will also be responsible for planning and implementing both farriery and equine physical therapy services.

The VSL will also provide veterinary care as needed for athlete or spectator assistance dogs.

As well as a veterinary degree, the successful application should also be an FEI Official Veterinarian.
