Thoroughbred trainer, 84, puts equestrian estate on market

eutrophia0At 84, well-known Ohio horse owner, breeder and enthusiast Elisabeth Alexander has decided to downsize. That means her spectacular equestrian property is up for auction.

Her Eutrophia Farms, along with its farm equipment and thoroughbred horses, will be offered at auction on October 22.

The property comprises about 140 acres and is located near several race tracks. It is only 25 miles from Cleveland.

It has multiple barns with a total of 81 stalls, indoor and outdoor arenas, a Eurosizer, round pens, storage buildings and run-in sheds.

The land is divided into 25 pastures. The property boasts roughly two and a half miles of wooded riding trails, three lakes, and several housing options.

“Eutrophia Farms is an extremely versatile farm and was designed for multiple uses,” the current farm manager, Elias Del Val, said.

eutrophia2“The property is currently used as a thoroughbred breeding and training facility, but it is also well-suited as a multidiscipline training and boarding facility for standardbreds, quarter horses, hunter/jumper, dressage, polo, and more.”

Del Val said the farm had all the amenities necessary for equine breeding, boarding, and training.

The updated 1901 home is a split-level, two-suite farmhouse with about 2135 square feet of living space. Upstairs and downstairs both offer a two-bedroom, single-bath suite.

The manager’s house is a renovated and remodeled 1900s farmhouse of about 2040 square feet, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

eutrophia3Also offered for sale on the same day are 17 horses – yearlings and broodmares – and a sizable personal property collection including trucks, trailers, tractors, equipment, tack, tools, furniture and other items.

The breeder’s sale is subject to reserve and prior sale, whereas the real estate, land buildings and listed equipment will be absolute.

The auction will begin at 10am on-site at 7939 Sherman Road in Chesterland.
