Farmer arrested for naming donkey after Egyptian general
An Egyptian farmer is in trouble for naming his donkey after the country’s ruling general.
Omar Abul-Magd was being held late on Friday in Qena provinces, according to reports, after putting the name of General Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi on his donkey and completing the look with an army-style cap.
Abul-Magd is accused of insulting the general.
El-Sissi led the coup this year against President Mohammed Morsi.
Abul-Magd’s act was deemed “directly insulting” to the army.
Egypt has a long-standing taboo against criticizing its military.
