Recently retired superstar galloper Frankel is proving successful at his new vocation, with his first mare tested in foal.

Juddmonte Farms General Manager Philip Mitchell said that Chrysanthemum, a dual Group 3 winner and third in the G1 Pretty Polly Stakes, had tested in foal to Frankel at Banstead Manor Stud in Newmarket, Suffolk. She is one of 130 mares booked to the son of Galileo this season.

His stablemate, the Group 1-placed sprinter Bated Breath, also had his first mare tested in foal at the stud. Mitchell said  Pretty Primo, a winning half-sister to Gr.1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere winner Wootton Bassett, was in foal at Banstead Manor Stud.

“Both horses are proving to be very professional and it is always good to get their first mare tested in foal.”

Frankel stands this season for a fee of £125,000, while Bated Breath stands at £8,000.
