You’ve heard of Bananas in Pyjamas and the Cat in a Hat? How about Shetlands in Sweaters?
A pair of shetland ponies were dressed in the flash knitwear for a photo shoot to mark the Year of Natural Scotland.
The campaign has been organized by the national tourism organization, Visit Scotland, to showcase the nation’s outstanding natural beauty and encourage tourism.
Fivla, 17, and Vitamin, 18, the darker pony, were more than happy to sport the extra layer, even though their own coats are well adapted to withstood the worst weather on the Shetland Islands.
The sweaters were knitted by local Shetlander Doreen Brown at the Thorndale Shetland Driving Centre.
Caretakers Frances Taylor and Jo Tonkinson report that the ponies are best of friends.
In addition to Shetland’s famous ponies, the island chain is also known for its birdwatching, sandy beaches and cultural events.
