A dead horse left on airport property in Baton Rouge, Louisana, appeared to be severely malnourished, it has been reported.

East Baton Rouge Parish animal control officials are investigating.

The bay animal has been estimated at 300 pounds underweight. Its rear legs were tied.

Evidence suggested it had been pushed off a vehicle.

Authorities suspect it was already dead when dumped on land owned by Metro Airport, The Advocate reported.

A microchip was found on the animal and that person is being traced, although it is unclear when they last owned the horse.
