Superstar sprinting mare Black Caviar is back in training and being aimed at the group 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes in February.
Trainer Peter Moody said Black Caviar had recently completed a month’s pre-training before having another month’s spell and then a further five weeks up at Peter Clarke’s property in Murchison.
“She’s back into work tomorrow up at Peter Clarke’s in Murchison,” Moody said.
“She’s been back with Peter for five weeks now where she’s done three weeks work followed by two weeks off that she completes today.
“She’s full bore from tomorrow towards the Lightning.”
Moody said he would love to see Black Caviar back at the racetrack simply for the fact it would be positive for racing, but he was also mindful of protecting what is now a unique legacy.
“We’re very happy with her but obviously extremely conscious of the situation we are in with her that we don’t want to see her beaten now.
“We certainly won’t hesitate to retire her along the way but I’m hopeful that we do get her back to the track in the great form that she’s shown all along.”
