Eventing’s leading lights for international forum

British Eventing Chief Executive Mike Etherington-Smith will join US Equestrian Federation President David O’Connor and New Zealand rider Mark Todd in an international eventing forum next year.

The forum, titled “Journey to the Top” is at Hartpury College on February 4, 2013.

Etherington-Smith, who designed the cross country courses at the Beijing and Sydney Olympics and the 2010 World Equestrian Games, will work with  Olympic medalist and coach O’Connor on “XC Course Designer vs Coach”.

Etherington-Smith will pose questions from a course builder’s perspective, and O’Connor, will put forward coaching solutions.

The line-up for the day also includes top dressage coach Ian Woodhead with his wife Heidi Woodhead who will present “How both ends meet – from the beginning to the finished product” establishing the essentials in producing top competition horses.

The day will finish with two-time Olympic gold medalist Mark Todd, whose showjumping based demo “The Jumping Ladder” will address key tools in optimising a horse’s showjumping performance.

The day will be chaired by Eric Smiley FBHS, a renowned international competitor and coach. Smiley was also coach to the Olympic Belgian Eventing team.

The speakers that will share their knowledge and experience, in an interactive format.
