A new grant program in the US is giving licensed eventing competitions the chance to apply for assistance to implement frangible devices on their cross-country courses.

The United States Equestrian Federation announced the Frangible Technology Grant Program this week.

In June of 2008 the USEF began supplying frangible pins at no cost to organizers of USEF licensed eventing competitions. Over the past four years, at the encouragement of the FEI, several new frangible technologies have entered the marketplace.

The development of these new products prompted the USEF Eventing Technical Committee to revisit the program.

Organizers of USEF Eventing competitions offering divisions at the Preliminary level and above, and taking place before November 30, may request a grant by completing a Frangible Technology Grant Program Request.

Grants of up to $500 or the equivalent in frangible devices will be awarded. The deadline to apply for the 2012 competition season is November 1, 2012.
