Equine program an option at Minnesota Nutrition Conference


A half-day equine program is being offered as an option for those who are interested only in equine nutrition during this year’s Minnesota Nutrition Conference.

The conference is set for September 18 and 19 in Owatonna, Minnesota. Registrations are now open.

The Minnesota Nutrition Conference is the upper Midwest’s premier educational event for livestock nutritionists, feed industry professionals, and others who wish to increase their knowledge of beef, dairy swine, poultry and equine nutrition.

The event kicks off with a pre-conference symposium sponsored by Dupont Industrial Biosciences. “Improving Utilization of Feed” will provide information on uses of new feeding technologies and concepts including applications and uses of feed enzymes, anti-nutrients, substrates, gut health and microflora, and host interactions.

Day one of the conference includes University of Minnesota livestock research updates followed by a welcome reception sponsored by Alltech.

Day two has informative sessions on ruminant and non-ruminant nutrition featuring presentations on the theme “Feed Efficiency Challenges”.

Topics addressed in the equine program will inlcude improving gut health, and using pre- and probiotics in equine feeds.

The early registration fee for the full two-day Minnesota Nutrition Conference is $195 through September 9, 2012, and $230 thereafter. The fee includes the pre-conference symposium, livestock research updates, and ruminant or non-ruminant sessions, a single copy of the proceedings, two lunches, break refreshments, and the welcome reception.
Registration for the half-day Equine Program is $100 and includes admittance to the Equine Program only, one copy of the proceedings, one lunch, and break refreshments. The $100 rate is good through September 9th and increases to $115 after that date.
Students pay only $100 up to and on the day of the conference but must present a student ID at the door. The student fee applies to both the full two-day conference and the half-day Equine Program.
