Top German rider Ulla Salzgeber is to miss the German Dressage Championships with Herzruf’s Erbe in Balve next week, which means the combination cannot be considered for Olympic selection.

Salzgeber said this week she did not feel she could have Erbe fit enough to be a top contender for London, because of her training commitments.

“Even if we did make the (Olympic) team, the risk is too high that Erbe would not be at his full potential to contribute to a top score for the team,” Salzgeber said.

The two-time team Olympic gold medalist (Sydney 2000, Athens 2004) said she will aim Erbe toward the coming indoor season World Cup season.
