Piebald donkey Primrose has delivered her foal just weeks after her rescue by the Irish SPCA.
Primrose’s colt was born at the charity’s National Animal Centre and it is now seeking a name for the little boy. Suggestions can be made at its Facebook page.
Primrose was rescued only a few weeks ago by ISPCA Chief Inspector Conor Dowling. She was in poor condition and had badly overgrown and misshapen hooves.
Because she was in foal, the ISPCA farrier and equine care staff were limited in the treatment that they could provide.
Now that she can receive the very best of attention, it is hoped that she will make a full recovery.
Despite her problems, Primrose has proven to be a great Mum.
“It was great to catch up with Primrose and her new arrival and to see how well they’re doing in the care of our specialist staff,” Dowling said.
“The foal is a real character and I’m sure he’ll provide a lot of entertainment for visitors to our centre.”
