Andrew Nicholson was the best performed of the Kiwi riders at the Weston Park One Day Event on Saturday, scoring a win and two second placings in advanced classes.

Nicholson won on Quimbo, and was second with Nereo and Avebury in two of the other advanced classes. Mr Cruise Control was sixth in another class.

Before heading to Kentucky for the Rolex three-day-event, Jonathan Paget completed an advanced dressage test with Clifton Promise, scoring a 31. Paget also gave Clifton Lush an easy run over the cross-country in a pre-Badminton workout.

Caroline Powell’s Boston Two Tip was 10th in Quimbo’s advanced class, and Powell did not take part in the cross-country with Porthill Rusty Nail.

• On the same day, several other New Zealand riders were in action at the South of England Horse Trials.

Dan Jocelyn won an intermediate class on Brookfield Hero, and was eighth with Valemont. Also in the class was Mark Todd and Echo, who finished 20th, and Tim Price and Purbeck were 27th. Jonelle Richards also gave Flintstar (HC) a run in this class.

Todd was also third with Leonidas II in an intermediate class.
