An Equestrian Showcase is to be held at Ireland’s Punchestown National Hunt Festival next month.

The main features of the day on April 24 will be a parade of non-racing equestrian disciplines in the parade ring before racing begins, a special discounted ticket offer for members of Horse Sport Ireland’s 22 Affiliates and Sections and a designated pavilion in the reserved enclosure area for members.

Horse Sport Ireland Chairman Joe Walsh said that the event was a great opportunity for each affiliate to promote what they do to a wider audience, as well as an opportunity for the sector to get together without having to worry about organising an event or getting their horse ready for a competition.

“There has always been a great affinity between Punchestown and the equestrian community and we would hope to see the equestrian sector out in force to enjoy the parade of disciplines, a top class day’s racing and of course a great day out,” he said.

Dick O’Sullivan, Punchestown General Manager, welcomed the initiative. “The Punchestown festival is the ideal platform for the HSI Showcase and we are delighted to welcome them on board for the opening day of the 2012 festival.

“We will have people here from all over Ireland and the UK, all with the common interest being the horse. Equestrianism is something the Irish excel at and can be proud of and we at Punchestown are certainly very proud to host this showcase”.

The equestrian parade will take place in the parade ring before racing with Horse Sport Ireland’s relevant Affiliates and Sections to be represented.

Members of Affiliate Bodies or Sections can purchase tickets for the ‘Equestrian Showcase’ on Tuesday, April 24 for €15, which is half the retail price. The price includes access to the reserved enclosure and the Horse Sport Ireland pavilion. Children under the age of 14 can attend for free if accompanied by an adult.

Tickets can be purchased by contacting Caroline Ryan at Punchestown at cryan@punchestown.com or on the ticket line number +353 (0)45 897704.
