Half a million dollars in prize money is up for grabs in Saturday night’s FTI Consulting Grand Prix, held under floodlights at the Palm Beach Equestrian Centre in Wellington, Florida, and six Irish riders will be there hoping for a generous slice of the action.

Andrew Bourns, Darragh Kenny, Darragh Kerins, Cian O’Connor, Conor Swail and Shane Sweetnam will line out under floodlights this weekend with their top horses, marking the final days of Florida’s Winter Equestrian Festival, which has so far yielded a huge amount of success for the Irish contingent and has featured 5000 horses and 2800 riders from 49 US states and 30 countries.

Irish show jumpers will also compete throughout Europe this weekend, with shows in Arezzo in Italy, Vilamoura in Portugal, Bonheiden in Belgium and Barbizon in France.

Ireland’s Three Day Event riders, meanwhile, will see action at Belton and Somerly Park in England, while in Deauville, France, the Irish Para Equestrian dressage squad of James Dwyer, Helen Kearney, Geraldine Savage, Breda Bernie, Eilish Byrne, Kate Kerr-Horan, Kathryn Wheelock, Rosemary Gaffney and Angela Lyons will attempt to capitalise on the recent remarkable run of success that has already secured Ireland a team place at the London Paralympics.
