British actress and comedienne Jennifer Saunders is keen to return to competitive riding and is making a documentary about her love of horses.
The two-part programme will air in August on ITV and will follow British hopefuls such as Eventers Piggy French and Lauren Shannon.
Saunders, 53, is one of a growing number of women keen to re-kindle their childhood passion for horse riding. Although she rode and competed as a child, and still rides regularly, she has never ridden very competitively. Now, she intends to train towards competing in the sport of eventing. British Eventing said that is appears she is not alone, and that while many women returning to riding might be content to hack around, it has seen a rise in the number of women who want to compete in horse trials events.
Saunders will attend the Mitsubishi Motors Grassroots Championships at Badminton Horse Trials in Gloucestershire in May.
