Irish rider dies during one-day horse trials

A top Irish event rider was killed yesterday during the Brockenhurst One Day Event near Southampton in Hampshire.

Sherelle Duke, 27, of Portadown in County Armagh, was killed when her horse fell on top of her during the cross-country.

Duke was the Individual Gold medal winner and part of the bronze-medal winning team at the 1999 Young Rider Championships. She was also in the Senior Irish team at the 2003 European Championships.
