That's THREE of our licensed stallions winning Champions in a single show!

Eventing Successes

Prue Jackson's stable of top bred Hanoverians and Warmbloods has had a great start to the spring season with son James riding.

The Voltaire II horses Vedette in Novice and Verity in training level performed well at Woodhill, Whangarei and Te Rapa, while the Anamour mare Anamai has had 2 wins and a third place already. All three horses are from the TB mare Sabertage – which is by the fabulous producers of eventing horses – Aberlou.

Annie Oakley (Anamour/Tipsy Kay xx) from the Mary Wilson stable and now with Megan Finlayson is now showing well in Novice level with placings.

The Henton Lodge Hanoverians and Lizzy Brown's Henton Attorney General continues to impress with a resounding win in Open Novice at Woodhill Sands Labour weekend trials. He is by the Hanoverian stallion Anamour out of the Dynamit/Distelfink/Crown Lease xx mare Delphi.

Tara Copplestone continues to impress with two Anamour horses – At the Limit from the mare Sister Sheila xx (Palm Beach xx) – featured in fine style on the cover of November Horse Trader magazine – and Clifton Ali (Annabold by Witzbold).

John Twomey continues to impress with Flaunt It (Witzbola/Ramzes II) and the beautiful Brilliant Invader xx/Distelfink horse Highly Recommended.

Charlton Noted (Oldenburg) looked good for a third place at Te Rapa while another one from the Fife breeding program, Charlton Spice (Charlton Javelin) placed in open novice for Rachel Clarke. New faces to watch for are Henton Nikau Admiral (Anamour/Dynamit) for Dave Sutton, Kahukuri Ace (Magistad/Valiant) for Angela Lloyd – riding for Winky Foley, Kahurangi Manu (Valiant) and Mirror Image (Magistad) – breeder Deborah Crawford and HR Wunderbar (Wonderkind/Witzbold) has shown some form for Shelley Hamilton at Northland.

Kitsada (Loewenherz/RamzesII) is consistent for Debra Law, Rakaunui Sweet Deal (Loewenherz) and Liz Sanders continues to develop into a consistent performer at open novice level. Others to impress whilst watching at Puhinui Three Day Event were Art Master by Leo Caylon ridden by Donna Smith and bred by Diane and the late Denise Crispe. Clinic 42 American Express by Ramirez ridden by Hollie Swain for owner Kaye Coyne, Lochinvar II by Valiant for Emma Broughton, and the Corlando horses Waitangi Triple X, Woodbine Next Time Round, and the two Internet horses from Jos Bailey – Waitangi Lap Top and Waitangi Skype.

Previous recipient of one of the Recognition awards, Gordon (Voltaire II) made a successful comeback for his owner Alice Montgomery with a good win at Aaran Station in the advanced section.

Overall at the Three Day:
Flaunt It was best placed in the 1 star event, Highly Recommended was best placed in the 2 star event, and after a great start going into showjumping in the lead in the 1 star event on Vedette, James Jackson had a most unfortunate fall so was eliminated. We wish James a speedy recovery from this.

Young Event Horses – Puhinui

1st – Leo Degas (Dream Boy/Golden Legacy xx/Leader of the Band xx) breeder Julia Fraser and owned and ridden by Sam Taylor. This is a half brother to a previous winner of the National event at Taupo, Clifton Leo, also bred by Julia. Leo Degas is the first of the Dream Boy progeny to excel in this discipline.

2nd – Waitangi Triple X (Corlando/Cola xx) breeder Jos Bailey and rider Dannie Lodder. This mare is one of three successes from the mare Cola. Two others – Mundy Blues (by Allermund colt Allersun) – bred by Des Lowe and Wurlitzer (by Grand Kavalier Westf.) , bred by Lisa Blackbourn – have both become Grand Prix showjumpers.

3rd, 4th and 5th were won by thoroughbreds or derivatives.

6th – Clifton Zander (BT sf/Topsy) breeder Clifton Eventers rider Donna Smith. This is by the same Selle Francais stallion as last year's overall winner at Puhinui, Clifton Bee Gee.

Congratulations to breeder of Leo Degas, Julia Fraser. This is a beautiful type of horse and one to watch for the future.
