Vollrath Stud News

July 13, 2009

It's the time of year for Berny Maubach to let us know what has happened at Vollrath recently.

Unfortunately some sad news first – the August storms last year killed our beautiful six yr old gelding Winnetou (Worldwide/Dynamit/Genius). He somehow got into the flooded creek was washed against a fallen tree which trapped him and ....he miserably drowned. The same night our mare Polly Rainbow (Porter Rhodes xx / Jaguar) slipped her foal being nine months pregnant.

But with the winter gone and the warm weather the mares for Lessing arrived. His achievements with my wife Jutta made him attractive to breeders – he served 34 mares, a good book in my opinion, considering all the stallions standing in NZ and on top of that the frozen semen available.

Lessing certainly stamps his foals, all have beautiful confirmation, are long legged, paired with spectacular movement and a very 'forward' nature. There are a good number of photos on our web page www.hanoverian.co.nz

The picture above I took just the other day, of Jutta training and riding Lessing at home. He was not competed this season, as Jutta wanted to train him at home while he was serving mares. Just wait till next spring, though, we are sure Lessing will come out with a "bang"! He has just made the most awesome progression with Jutta.
