Dr Jochen Wilkens and spectators at the classification day. |
On Sunday 15 March, the New Zealand Hanoverian Society conducted a classification day at Abderry Farm. We were fortunate enough to have the classification presided over by Verband visitor, Dr Jochen Wilkens – the retired breeding manager for the Hanoverian Verband (pictured left). Dr Wilkens knowledge and wealth of experience proved to be fascinating to listen to, particularly his presentation on the history of the Hanoverian horse. We were indeed fortunate to have this kind of expert available to us and our breeders.
